Springdale Linux (formerly PUIAS)
Project origins
Section titled “Project origins”Springdale Linux, formerly PUIAS, is a project involving computing staff from Princeton University and the Institute for Advanced Study, two separate institutions.
Repository roles
Section titled “Repository roles”The project homepage distinguishes Addons, Computational and Unsupported: extra software beyond the base distribution, scientific-computing software, and additional packages without support, respectively.
Separate the base system from additional repositories before checking the selected release, architecture and repository files. Previously listed repository IDs and bulk installation commands had no project execution evidence and have been removed; they should not be used to change production configuration.
Installation references and applicability
Section titled “Installation references and applicability”The project homepage links installation media and mirrors. Download tables, older FAQs and build notes can refer to different release lines. Match the selected media to its documentation instead of applying old package names or installation paths to another version.
Support boundaries
Section titled “Support boundaries”The project disclaimer provides no software warranty, gives no support for Unsupported packages, and restricts some internal packages to the participating institutions.
This overview promises no fixed update deadline, commercial service tier or application certification. Establish suitable update and service arrangements for critical workloads; an accessible project website does not prove continued security maintenance of a particular release.
